More than 100 people put on their walking shoes and came out to join our first Wellness Walk (pictured below) at HealthSquare at Westfield Sarasota Square on Thursday. The walk is a great way to achieve your health and fitness goals, which can be a difficult task during the hottest months of the year.
Every Thursday morning through Nov. 8, walkers can meet at HealthSquare at 8:30 a.m. and walk in the safe, air conditioned comfort of the mall – You can even walk to destinations around Florida with a fun mapping system! SMH physicians and clinicians also will hold special “walk talks” every Thursday morning to discuss important health and fitness topics. Walkers receive a pedometer (while supplies last) and a logbook to help chart their progress. You can join the group walk on Thursdays or walk at the mall at any other time – just look for the mile markers! Our HealthSquare team will check you in, offer support and connect you with new walking friends.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, walking can help improve health even without weight loss! People who are physically active live longer and have a lower risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression and some cancers. So join the Wellness Walk at HealthSquare and put your best foot forward!
