Visitors stopping by Sarasota Memorial’s 1700 South Café for a bite to eat not only will be treated to an array of homemade baked goodies, sandwiches, salads and other entrees. Now, they can also enjoy a view of the Tuscan countryside, thanks to an innovative film recently placed on the café’s windows to mask a construction site just outside the restaurant. Special thanks to Hospitality Services Supervisor John Shirk, the Food and Nutrition Services Team and Solar-X for coming up with a creative budget-conscious solution while the hospital continues its two-year Courtyard Tower construction project. 1700 South prides itself on offering visitors and staff appetizing meals in a serene atmosphere that provides an escape from the hospital’s normal hustle and bustle – The window wraps help visitors experience a relaxing change of scenery.
Last week the steel frame for the pedestrian connector bridge linking the South Garage to the Critical Care Tower was erected. When completed the bridge will allow staff to easily exit the garage and enter the hospital without being exposed to inclement weather.
